Creating Gateways, One Handbag & Book At A Time – Building Libraries in Tanzania: Lets create gateways of opportunity

Creating Gateways, One Handbag & Book At A Time – Building Libraries in Tanzania

Do you remember what your first book did for you? A book for many of us is a gateway to another world, a world beyond our own that opens doors beyond our imagination. My name is Salma Zainab Jordan, I am the Founder,CEO, and designer ofTARB, a women’s line based in Washington, DC. I started the company 2 ½ years ago with the goal to design handbags and accessories that compliment the natural style of every woman.

Over the past two years TARB is internationally recognized brand that spans from Dubai to Singapore. However our goal in creating this brand was not simply to become another fashion company, but create a company that acknowledges the importance of giving back to the community at large.

We’ve partnered with READ International, an organization dedicated to building libraries in secondary schools in Tanzania. Over the years they’ve created 72 libraries that benefit 45,314 students. Our goal is to build a library in the Tanga region of Tanzania by October 2016.

You have the power to affect lives by donating in two ways 1) through our Launch Good page and selecting the amount that works for you or  2) purchasing from our ILLA LANE collection and we’ll donate a percentage of those proceeds to this effort, simply by clicking here

This project is for individuals who yearn to create a lasting impact on the community at large through education. Our mission is to spread the message that fashion should not merely be used for materialistic gains, but should be used to create something more; that touches lives apart from our own.

Join us as we set a goal to collect $9,800 USD to build a library and make a difference in the lives of children in Tanzania. We’ve created this project because its is our core belief that the advancement of society and the betterment of  humanity falls on the shoulders of the global community.  What kind of world do you want to live in?

“No one has ever become poor by giving”
