WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Soho Loft Media Group supports the conference to be held in Hogan Lovells Law Firm, Columbia Square, 555 13th Street NW in downtown Washington, D.C. from September 29 to October 1, 2014.

The two-day Education Summit organized by the Crowdfunding Professional association (CfPA) will provide stakeholders and non-profit organizations with new information and updates to understand the ever growing crowdfunding space.

David Drake, a co-founder of CfPA as well as the Founder and Chairman of LDJ Capital and The Soho Loft Media Group, will be one of the speakers for the International Crowdfunding panel.

The dramatic change in the traditional ways of funding has led to companies or even individuals raising funds to spearhead their projects and ideas. David believes that “VCs and angel investors require experts to help them carefully consider all aspects before entering into any investment. This is mainly due to the changes in the business environment that entrepreneurs were used to, hence the need to create new ways of raising funds.”

The summit will start on the evening of Sept 29 with a dinner for the CfPA Board and Advisory Council from 7pm to 10pm. Registration will start on Tuesday, from 8am to 9am, to be followed by 30-min introductions. Then, track sessions will commence at 9am and ends 5pm. The topics that will be covered for the day are:

Impact of Crowdfunding – Where are We Now?

Legal Status and Issues in Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding for Universities and Research Institutions

Box lunches and networking

Intrastate and Local Crowdfunding

International Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding for Women and Minorities

Crowdfunding and Self-Directed Retirement Accounts

Open Working Group: Crowdfunding Certifications

To cap the first day’s activities, an evening reception, with speaker, will be held from 6pm to 8pm. Wednesday, October 1 is a day full of consolidated sessions from 9am to 5pm. The topics to be elucidated on are:
State of the CfPA

Crowdfunding Success for Entrepreneurs

Box lunches and networking

Crowdfunding as Investment

Crowdfunding for Entrepreneurship Students

Attendee Input: Public, Entrepreneurs, Investors and Service Providers

A recap of the two-day summit will be made before ending it formally. Distinguished personalities in the crowdfunding space are invited to this recap.

FundAmerica provides critical back office services to portals and issuers that are engaged in raising funds for technology-driven companies by selling equity and debt securities to investors under the Title II and III of the JOBS Act offerings. Scott Purcell , Founding Board Member of CfPA as well as Founder and CEO of FundAmerica, says “Our proprietary tools and technology enable you to stay in compliance with federal and state laws, seamlessly bundling them into your platform at the lowest possible cost.”

In a related development, CfPA recently announced the availability of a Termsheet Template for use in crowdfunding equity offerings under the Title III of JOBS Act. Likewise, CfPA recently launched two (2) new certification programs to supplement the organization’s activities on educating, communicating and advocating for all forms of crowdfunding.

The crowdfunding space is a growing industry. People and organizations that are into crowdfunding need to update regularly on the industry’s developments to better serve their clients. For more details, visit:
