ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR DEVELOPMENT

Entrepreneurship for Development (EFD) is a mini-enterprise created by 5 students of CLIB (The Braga Internacional School) that has as an objective to promote entrepreneurship in developing communities by facilitating volunteering missions focused on delivering cross-border entrepreneurial training in developing countries, contributing to the achievement of inclusive economic growth and elimination of poverty by promoting sustainable private enterprise and social enterprise. This missions consist o having workshops and lessons so that parents and adults can learn basic concepts on how to start a business.

 Aim:

To promote entrepreneurship in developing communities.

Mission statement:

To facilitate volunteering missions focused on delivering cross-border entrepreneurial training in developing countries, contributing to the achievement of inclusive economic growth and elimination of poverty by promoting sustainable private enterprise and social enterprise.

Corporate Objective:

“To obtain 12 partner regions and facilitate the mission of 100 volunteers to our partner regions by the end of the academic year 2015/2016.”

Product description:

Our global online platform will provide our volunteers access to training materials and workshops, as well as a 24 hour chat and forum to promote discussions and clear doubts.  The platform will also allow volunteers to locate our partner countries and choose the region where they wish to carry out their mission. 

Product Features:

–       Interactive World Map: This feature will show partner regions, location assessments, local mentor information and general information of the mission and tourist opportunities.

–       Training Materials: Three workshop packs will be available for purchase on our website. EfD Premium, which is a 10-day pack, including 10 workshop powerpoints and an audio for each workshop; EfD Gold, a 20-day pack with 20 workshops and audio included for each lesson; and EfD Platinum, a 30-day pack with 30 workshops and audio for all lessons.  

–       Forum and Chat: This is an option which provides 24 hour contact and support from our expert entrepreneurial team in order to promote discussion and collaboration between volunteers. This is also useful to clarify any doubts that may arise regarding the workshops, training materials and mission itself.

–       Entrepreneur Track Down: This feature allows volunteers to keep track of the entrepreneurs they have helped, sharing photographs and feedback on their experience.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Our business is made up of 5 students that study in CLIB ( The Braga Internacional School) and that came up with this idea based on a project given by JAP (Junior Achievement – Portugal). JAP is a non-profitable organization that has an objective to turn students into real entrepreneurs. -It is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.  These programs work on developing key competencies like team work, flexibility, attention to detail and communication which are essential in order to succeed in the ‘real world’. 

President – Filipa Carneiro; (16 years old) 

Finance Director – João Francisco Vale; (16 years old) 

Human Resources Director – Gonçalo Rodrigues; (16 years old) 

Marketing Director – Joana Lopes; (16 years old) 

IT and Operations Director – Guilherme Fernandes; (16 years old) 

Teacher – Amanda Chohfi will be responsible for the project (above 18+). 

Guilherme Herculano is the courage in our team. As an IT and Operations director he has to make bold decisions that push our team forward and help us solve any problem we may come across. Gonçalo Rodrigues represents the communication in our team. Being the Human Resources Director, Gonçalo must help us establish partnerships outside the business by using his communication skills to present EfD in the best way possible. Filipa Carneiro represents the leadership in our team. By being the president of EfD, Filipa motivates us to work as hard as we can and helps us take the less-travelled-path in order for our company to reach success. Joana Lopes is the innovation in our team. By being the marketing director, Joana always has to think on our business’ image and promotion strategies in an innovative and structured way, so that they attract our audience in the best way possible.Finally, João Francisco Vale is the trust in EfD. As the finance director, João Francisco needs to take risks and invest in different ways that our business can reach success. By being organized, João gives our costumers the strength to trust in our business.

Together, we make the passion that motivates our team and that fills the hearts of our volunteers to embrace the opportunity to carry out these missions.
