Lanc. Co. Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit: The K-9 unit is not funded by the county or taxpayer dollars, and must rely on donations to sustain its operation

Lanc. Co. Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit is a specialty unit within the Sheriff’s Office established in 1998.  We offer a variety of different services throughout the county.
Our K-9 teams are Sgt. Bolton & K-9 Ronin, and Deputy Cole & K-9 Edik.  Ronin and Edik are both German Shepherd / Belgian Malinois mixes.  Both dogs are trained in explosive detection and patrol.  Some of the functions the K-9 teams can perform include obediance, tracking, explosive detection, building and area searches, and apprehension.
The K-9 unit is not funded by the county or taxpayer dollars, and must rely on donations to sustain its operation.  The costs of training, equipment, food and veterinary care are extensive but necessary to maintain the unit and to ensure we can continue to serve our community with pride.
