NEW YORK — Victoria Global supported the European Business Angels Network (EBAN) Conference from 17-18 November 2014 organized by FiBAN in Helsinki, Finland.
The EBAN Helsinki 2014 European Business Angels Network conference’s main theme was “ICT, Mobile, and Games”. It brought together more than 350 participants that included venture capitalists, EBAN members, angel network members, and upcoming entrepreneurs from Europe and beyond. On November 17th, they met for sector-based sessions, sharing and networking at the Scandic Marina Congress Center in Katajanokanlaituri 7, Helsinki. On Tuesday, November 18th the participants attended a Master Class Training at the Messukeskus Conference Centre, Messuaukio 1, Helsinki.
The conference enabled international investors to share success stories and best practices in angel investing. According to Victoria Global, LDJ Capital, and The Soho Loft Media Group Founder and Chairman David Drake, “The potential of crowdfunding as a market is growing rapidly particularly when Europe gets its education to the masses and marketing going. Crowdfunding empowers the crowd as much as it empowers the individual.” He adds, “The focus of branding is shifting towards the individual. Crowdfunding includes individual choices before products are developed and packaged.”
The agenda for the two-day conference comprised opportunities for international investors to network and attend Master Classes. Attendees participated in sector-based discussions on day one of the conference ahead of the opening ceremony. Concurrent sessions on varied themes and networking sessions were held. Some broad topics explored during the sessions included: “Startups and Corporations”, “Creative Industries”, “Cross-border Investments”, “Profitable Impact Investing”, “Crowdfunding”, “EduTech”, and “Inspiring Private Investments”. On day two of the conference, participants attended training sessions on varied themes ranging from “Markets and Networks”, “Speed Dating Arena”, “Valuation”, to “Startup Exit” and “Angel Fund Co-Investing”. Master Class sessions were delivered by highly experienced angel investors.
Conference opening speeches were made by Candace Johnson, EBAN President , and Riku Asikainen, Finnish Business Angels Network (FiBAN) President ().
According to Candace Johnson, EBAN’s President, “EBAN uses success stories to enhance the skills of European investors and entrepreneurs. Corporations want rigor and discipline in all areas including entrepreneurship, innovation and doing business. Investors should expect professionalism and perfection and entrepreneurs have to deliver. Competition in the free market is extremely high, only the best succeed.”
