I am an artist, activist, author, serious macaroni and cheese maker and lover of my Yorkshire Terrier, Anastasia Duchess, I am most well known as a performance poet and national and international poetry slam champion. I also have a B.A. in Sociology and an M.S.A. in Organizational Management, I am the former Capacity Building and Training Director for the Black AIDS Institute, the nation’s only HIV/AIDS think-tank focused exclusively on the HIV epidemic in Black communities. I have served on the National Board of Directors for the arts and activism organization, Blackout Arts Collective, Split This Rock and reproductive justice organization, SisterSong. I was a multi-year teaching artist for Lyrical Minded, an arts and transformational learning program working with incarcerated, at-risk and youth with mental illness in locked and alternative facilities in San Francisco, CA. I have worked in direct service with at-risk youth, HIV +, sex workers, incarcerated, and those most impacted by social inequality. Growing up a military kid with a brother with disabilities and a mother struggling with addiction, I learned early how difficult it is to live in the world without shame. I became committed at a young age to doing my part to create a world where we all had exactly what we needed to survive. This commitment has taken me all over the world and has left me in awe of the human spirit.

We have a graphic designer who has agreed to create a full marketing suite for all of our projects and services for $1700 dollars. We would like spend $1500 on a 3 months marketing strategy that includes Google Ad words and Facebook Ads so that we might create targeted ad campaigns for our services and products. The remaining $1800 will be used to integrate e-course software onto our website allowing us to host multi-session curriculum from our web platform. We predict that this loan will help us generate $10k to $15k in new revenue in 6 months. Our services in the last year have grown simply by word of mouth. Pursuing targeted outreach will greatly expand our engagement, visits to our website and increase our earned revenue, allowing us to grow other areas of the company. As a Founder and CEO, my time is consumed with how to better generate revenue to run this organization. It can leave me feeling out of balance.
